I. Product Performance
Highly active bauxite, also known as red powder or light-burned powder, is primarily composed of aluminum oxide. It is a hydrated alumina containing impurities and appears as a earthy mineral. It is white or grayish-white in color but may turn brownish-yellow or pale red due to the presence of iron. Its density is 3.45 g/cm³, its hardness ranges from 1 to 3, it is opaque, and has a brittle texture. It is extremely difficult to melt.
II. Product Applications:
It is a raw material for the water purification agent polyaluminum chloride—a mineral powder produced by calcining and processing bauxite ore. It is insoluble in water but soluble in hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and sodium hydroxide solutions.
Other Industries (1) Aluminum Smelting Industry: Used in defense, aerospace, automotive, electrical appliances, chemical industry, and daily-use products, among others. (2) Precision Casting: Bauxite clinker is processed into fine powder, molded into casting patterns, and then precisely cast. This is applied in the military, aerospace, telecommunications, instrumentation, machinery, and medical device sectors. (3) Use in Refractory Products: High-alumina bauxite clinker boasts a refractoriness of up to 1780℃ and exhibits excellent chemical stability.
Strong dimensional stability and excellent physical properties. (4) Alumino-silicate refractory fiber: This material boasts advantages such as light weight, high-temperature resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity, small heat capacity, and resistance to mechanical vibration. It finds applications in a wide range of industries including iron and steel, nonferrous metallurgy, electronics, petroleum, chemical engineering, aerospace, nuclear energy, and national defense. The process involves placing high-alumina clinker into a high-temperature electric arc furnace operating at a melting temperature of approximately 2000–2200°C. After being melted at high temperatures, the material is subjected to high-pressure, high-speed air or steam blowing and then cooled, resulting in a pristine white “cotton”—alumino-silicate refractory fiber. This fiber can be compressed into fiber blankets or boards, or woven into fabrics, serving as an alternative to firebricks for lining high-temperature kilns in industries such as smelting, chemical processing, and glass manufacturing. Firefighters can also use refractory fiber fabrics to make protective clothing. (5) Made from magnesia sand and calcined bauxite clinker, with the addition of appropriate binders, this material delivers outstanding performance when used for casting monolithic linings of ladle vessels. (6) It can be used to produce aluminates cement, grinding materials, ceramics, and various aluminum compounds for the chemical industry.
