Polyaluminum chloride possesses properties such as adsorption, coagulation, and sedimentation. However, it has poor stability and is corrosive. If it accidentally splashes onto the skin, it should be immediately rinsed off with water. Production personnel must wear work uniforms, masks, gloves, and long rubber boots. Polyaluminum chloride produced via spray-drying boasts excellent stability, a wide range of applicability to different water bodies, rapid hydrolysis, strong adsorption capacity, the formation of large and dense flocs, quick and efficient sedimentation, low turbidity in treated water, and good dewatering performance. Using spray-dried products ensures safety, reduces water-related accidents, and makes it highly safe and reliable for residential drinking water. Therefore, polyaluminum chloride is also commonly referred to as high-efficiency polyaluminum chloride, high-efficiency PAC, or high-efficiency spray-dried polyaluminum chloride. Polyaluminum chloride is suitable for raw water of various turbidities and has a broad pH compatibility range; however, compared to polyacrylamide, its flocculation and sedimentation effects are significantly inferior.
The basicity of polyaluminum chloride is a relatively important indicator in polyaluminum products, especially for polyaluminum products intended for drinking water applications. The lower the basicity, the higher the price; therefore, different purchasers can adjust their procurement strategies based on the actual conditions provided by manufacturers. Moreover, the basicity of polyaluminum chloride products varies depending on the raw materials used and the production processes employed, necessitating adjustments by the manufacturers themselves. Increasing the basicity of polyaluminum chloride products can significantly enhance both production and usage efficiency. For instance, raising the basicity from 65% to 92% can reduce raw material costs by 20% and decrease usage costs by 40%.
