Molecular formula: [Al₂(OH)ₙCl₆₋ₙ]
Property: Polyaluminum chloride is a high-molecular-weight polymeric electrolyte coagulant composed of multivalent ions. It is an intermediate hydrolysis product situated between aluminum trichloride and aluminum chlorohydrate. Due to the bridging effect of chloro-oxy anions and the polymerization action of multivalent ions, it forms a high-molecular-weight, highly charged, nonionic water treatment agent.
Applications: Purification of river water, reservoir water, and groundwater for urban water supply; purification of industrial feedwater; urban wastewater treatment; sludge treatment; coal washing; papermaking sizing; raw materials for cosmetics and catalytic supports; dyeing and printing; leather processing; brewing; meat processing; mining; oil refining; and wastewater treatment in the heavy-metal industry. Treatment of highly toxic heavy metals and fluoride-containing wastewater.
Packaging: Solid products should be handled with care during loading and unloading to prevent damage to the packaging. They are packed in polyethylene-lined outer bags, with a liner film inside, and woven in layers, at 25 kg per bag. These products must not be transported or stored together with hazardous toxic substances. Store under normal temperature and in a dry environment.
Storage and Transportation: Liquids: Liquid products have a shelf life of six months. They should be transported in sealed tank trucks or plastic containers. For solids, loading and unloading must be handled with care to avoid damage to packaging. Solids must not be transported or stored together with hazardous toxic substances.
Features: Chemically stable at room temperature, non-toxic and harmless, with high water purification safety. It exhibits rapid reaction, requires small dosage, forms large and dense flocs quickly, settles rapidly and efficiently, has excellent filterability, enhances equipment utilization, boasts low treatment costs, and minimizes labor intensity. It is applicable to a wide range of raw water pH values, capable of coagulation within the pH range of 4–12, with optimal performance between pH 6 and 8. It demonstrates strong adaptability to various water types and shows particularly remarkable purification effects on highly turbid waters. No additional chemicals are required.
Alkaline or other coagulant aids. It also addresses the challenges of other chemicals—such as their poor reactivity and slow effectiveness when treating water with low turbidity and at low temperatures (below 4°C). It dissolves readily in water, and even if overdosed, it does not cause adverse side effects. It is easy to handle and manage, and it is non-corrosive to water treatment equipment and pipelines.
Instructions for Use: Depending on the specific conditions of the raw water, the typical dosage for water purification is as follows: for solid products, 3–30 ppm; for liquid products, 10–100 ppm. Add the chemical agent at the optimal dosage and adjust accordingly during use. If the alum flocs in the sedimentation tank are sparse and the residual turbidity is high, the dosage is too low. Conversely, if the alum flocs in the sedimentation tank are large, float to the surface, and the residual turbidity remains high, the dosage is excessive and should be adjusted appropriately.
