How to choose polyaluminium chloride?

2022-02-18

There are many polyaluminium chloride water purifiers on the market. We cannot inevitably start choosing. We should choose the water purifying agent that suits our needs. So, what kind of water purifying agent do we need? We can choose from the following aspects.

First, we should know our type of effluent and choose the chemical we need according to our type of effluent. If we choose chemicals blindly without looking at our wastewater type, we will not be able to achieve our goal, but will affect our efficiency. It can be divided into solid polyaluminium chloride and liquid polyaluminium chloride. The difference between them is the price. The price of liquid polyaluminium chloride is much lower than that of solid polyaluminium chloride, but the transportation cost is relatively higher. Polyaluminium chloride can also be divided into drum, frame and spray. Among these three forms, spray polymerization of aluminum chloride is a good method and is mainly used for the treatment of drinking water, which has a low content of water insoluble matter. Plate and frame polyaluminium chloride can be used for domestic wastewater treatment, which is slightly lower than spray polyaluminium chloride, but better compared to rotary drum polyaluminium chloride.

In addition, the content of polymeric aluminum chloride should be considered when choosing polyaluminum chloride. There are many kinds of polyaluminium chloride. Generally speaking, when the sewage is not serious, low content of polyaluminium chloride should be selected, and when the sewage pollution is serious, high content of polymeric aluminium chloride should be selected. The choice of polyaluminium chloride depends on its characteristics. Polymeric aluminum chloride used in industrial wastewater treatment is generally based on bauxite as raw material, while aluminum hydroxide is generally used as raw material for drinking water or tap water purification. There is a very clear difference between these two products.

What are the main indicators when choosing polyaluminium chloride?

(1) One is alkalinity; the degree of some form of hydroxylation or alkalization in polyaluminium chloride is called alkalinity or alkalization. It is usually expressed by the molar ratio of aluminum hydroxide B=[OH]/[al]. Alkalinity is one of the important indicators of polyaluminium chloride, which is closely related to the flocculation effect. The higher the concentration and salinity of raw water, the better the flocculation effect. In summary, in the range of raw water turbidity 86~10000mg/L, the alkalinity of polyaluminium chloride is 40%~85%. Many other properties of polyaluminium chloride are related to alkalinity.

(2) Secondly, pH value; pH value of polyaluminium chloride solution is also an important indicator. It indicates the OH- content of the free state in the solution. Generally speaking, its pH increases with the increase of alkalinity, but there is no correspondence between pH and alkalinity for liquids of different compositions. When the concentration of liquid with the same alkalinity is different, its pH value is also different.

(3) Alumina content; the content of alumina in polyaluminium chloride is a measurement of the active ingredient of the product, which is related to the relative density of the solution. Generally speaking, the higher the relative density, the higher the alumina content. Its viscosity is related to the alumina content and increases with the increase of alumina content. Under the same conditions and the same alumina concentration, its viscosity is lower than that of aluminum sulfate, which is more favorable for transportation and use.
